WATMA established in 1998 and duly incorporated and registered in October 2001, is a manufacturer of a range of alternative herbal preparations.

the study and in-depth knowledge of tropical plants, mostly from West Africa and other parts of the world, has largely helped in the provision of quality herbal remedies and the health supplements for the sustained well-being of all mankind.

Through continual research into primary causes of ailments, we have been able to identify and develop herbal remedies to assist the human body to fight against HIV/AIDS and to prevent the causes of these life- threatening diseases. These herbal remedies we have subjected to orthodox clinical studies and they have proven, in a number of cases, more effective and tolerable than orthodox alternatives.

Our health enhancing philosophy ensures that we carry out and implement all the stages of our production process from plants identification, product formulation and preparation to packaging and distribution of all our finished products.

In a statement, the African Union (AU) Commission called on member states to ensure that research on traditional medicine is integrated with HIV/AIDS control programmes as well as all other aspects of development policy.

The newly established ministerial committee on traditional medicine of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) stressed the importance of traditional medicine in addressing health challenges.

The decision to observe a Traditional Medicine Day was made by African health ministers in 2000 as part of a strategy to boost traditional medicine in national health systems.

In 2001, the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) declared 2001-2010 as the Decade for African Traditional Medicine. African countries have since been developing both research programmes on traditional remedies and legislation regulating their use.
